JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2011
Greetings in the Name our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
What an honor and privilege it is to serve the KING of kings and LORD of lords. One who hears and answers prayers. One who cares about the well being of His children.
This year has already started out very busy. We started out the year with a watch night service. It was wonderful to celebrate the New Year in prayer. This year we did things a little differently. Stephen challenged all the men of all ages to be prepared for a five minute message. It was great to see them one after another get up and share the Word of God. Stephen’s father preached the final message for the night. Of course we had special singing, good fellowship, and great food.
The first week of February we had a three day Vacation Bible School. It was a lot of work, but it was a blessing to everyone involved. You can go to our blog, doolittlesinacre.blogspot.com, to check out the pictures. The first day we had 47, the next day 58, and the last day 78. What made this so special was the way the people of the church came together to do the work. Please pray for the children that heard the Gospel. We had several children saved through this VBS.
Also as mentioned before, we will be starting classes at the Bible institute on March 15th. God is giving us the opportunity to train the future leaders of the works here and that is such a blessing to us. We are also being blessed with a young man from the United States that is coming to study and work here. Please pray for the Bible school and for Kanon Bloom. Kanon will have double the work as he will studying material in Portuguese while learning Portuguese at the same time.
Shortly after all our company leaving and before Vacation Bible School, Kelly came down with the dengue fever. Every year our state has a big battle to try to keep dengue under control. This year has been one of the worst yet. We have had several in the church that have had dengue fever this year. Well, in all the years that we have been in Brazil we have never contracted this disease. Kelly became the first in our family. Thankfully she is better and no one else in the family has gotten it.
